Scott Moxley Wed., Jul. 10 2013 at 9:30 AM Categories: Court , Crime-iny So you’re saying I’m not getting 30% annual returns? A multi-year scheme to embezzle $3.2 million from investors backing Temecula Waterpark LP of Aliso Viejo has ended with the operation’s business manager admitting to his crimes in federal court. Daniel Clyde Hunter III told U.S. District Court Judge Andrew J. Guilford this week that he is guilty of lying to investors about the secret conversion of their funds to his personal use, according to court records inside the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse in Santa Ana. Earlier this year, Assistant United States Attorney Ann Luotto Wolf accused Hunter of operating his scam from at least July 2006 through 2008 and luring investor money by falsely promising to pay 25 to 30 percent annual returns. The government claims Hunter, who is out of custody on bail, diverted money to remodel his home, make car payments and invest in other businesses. Federal agents traced various bank accounts the swindler used to funnel money to himself. Guilford scheduled an Oct. 21 sentencing hearing.

Jacobs House enjoys a play area and four bedrooms and adjoining baths each large enough to accommodate families in crisis. (Ashley Ludwig/SWRNN) Jacobs House enjoys a play area and four bedrooms and adjoining baths each large enough to accommodate families in crisis. Each bedroom shares a story a kind word from families who know the suffering that comes from difficult diagnosis, the razor-edged grief of sudden loss and the fear of having a loved one in an intensive care unit miles from home. One such room is Saras Room, dedicated by Malinda and Jim Margiotta of Temecula. In 2007, we lost Sara to a boating accident, due to a drunken boater, said Malinda.

The development was initially approved in the early part of the 2000s but developer Ashby USA, a Murrieta builder with ties to Las Vegas investors, got caught up in the throes of the recession. Left behind were graded pads for homes, an unused park, a vacant clubhouse and a fire station in the southern portion of the project that isnt staffed. Marty Langpap, president of Standard Pacific Homes Inland Empire Division, stood in front of the long-vacant clubhouse — featuring ornate lattice work on the front doors — with a roll of plans for homes in one hand and a hardhat in the other. The panhandle was divided into five planning areas that allow for about 100 homes each. KB Home bought one of the areas, Standard Pacific has two and Van Daele took one.
